Well, I've never blogged before so this is all new to me.
Anyhoo, about a month ago I came back from my jollies in North Yorkshire and got on the scales - it was pretty much the first thing that I did as I'd been deprived of watching my weight (increase) for nearly five whole days. I am addicted to the scales and had grown accustomed to checking my weight twice a day - first thing and last thing. I was horrified (but hardly surprised) to see that I'd gained five pounds in as many days whilst we were away. I knew I'd gained a fair few pounds as my clothes were protesting far more severely than they had been in the past and I was in danger of having them report me to some higher authority for abuse by stretching. So, it was then that I decided to go on a diet.
Now this decision is not new to me as I've been "on a diet" since I was about 20 years old (17 years in total). I started my first diet at 12 stones and lost two stones and since then I've dieted constantly and always grown rather than shrunk!
I digress. So on Saturday the 7th of March 2009 I saw that I could take advantage of Weight Watchers Online for two weeks and not pay a penny - now free is my favourite price so I was immediately drawn. Also, none of my other diets in the past have lasted much longer so I thought "well, I've nothing to lose".
I'm now nearly four weeks into the plan and can't see any signs of me giving up and I've lost 11 pounds in total - five in the first week and three for the past two weeks. I'm hoping for another three pounds this week so that I can claim another silver seven - the reward for losing half a stone! I can also pick up my three and a half month old son and think "my God, I've lost your body weight from my body"!
I've also bought myself a charm bracelet on which I will hang a charm every time I achieve a mini goal - namely losing half a stone, reaching my first 5% target and reaching any future 10% targets. I shall seriously treat myself after every 25 pounds lost too and seeing as I've 76 pounds to lose, that's three lovely treats for me.
We are going to Center Parcs at Christmas this year and I can't wait to slip in to a swimming costume that doesn't make me look like I need rescuing by Greenpeace. If I've lost all I need to lose then I may even be tempted to wear a tankini. After two kids I really don't have the figure for a bikini.
As regards how I've found the diet, it's been fairly easy apart from two days when I really had a hard time but when I realised I'd lost three pounds that week I soon regained all the motivation that I needed. I'm also very lucky in that I am breastfeeding which gives me an extra ten points per day. I am hoping that I can continue to breast feed until I'm at least half way through my journey and can get used to eating a lot less food.
I've always had a huge appetite and still have but now I've replaced those bad for me foods with pretty good for me foods and I also still make sure I have a treat every day whether it be a couple of WW carrot cake slices with a coffee or a curly wurly for supper (or if points allow, both)!!!
Well, I doubt anyone will ever read this, this is really for me to look back upon when I'm less motivated and hopefully pick up on the enthusiasm and optimism that I'm feeling at the moment because:
